The Japan DX Awards 2026 Summit & Awards was held on 22–23 July, with former Digital Agency Director-General Murakami Keisuke (村上敬亮) discussing the power of “curiosity to transcend silos” in his keynote. Examples of My Number Card use were presented, including initiatives by local governments and private-sector companies.
The main event took place on 22–23 July, when the Japan DX Awards 2026 Summit and Awards were held. Practitioners from the field discussed not only success stories but also failures, while the Japan No-Code Awards, held alongside the event, were announced together with the awards ceremony.
The keynote was delivered by former Digital Agency Director-General Murakami Keisuke (村上敬亮), who presented the view that the essence of DX lies not in technology but in overcoming siloed structures. He stressed the importance of collaboration through private-sector applications of My Number Cards and local-government transport DX.
One example was the number of My Number Cards issued, which surpassed 100 million, while the number of private-sector companies using them for identity verification services was on track to exceed 1,000. In a partnership with GDO, an IC card reader was installed at a golf course counter, creating a system that allows users to check in simply by tapping their My Number Card.
In an initiative by Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture, regional development points were linked to My Number Cards to encourage visitors to circulate among local shopping districts, addressing the pattern of tourists repeatedly visiting the same souvenir shop. In areas affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, a system was also established allowing people to withdraw cash using identity verification with a My Number Card even if they had lost their ATM card.
These initiatives were characterized by their ability to limit new development by repurposing existing identity verification infrastructure. In the early stages, however, organizations remained strongly cautious, making cooperation and persuasion on the ground essential to realizing the partnerships.
