NEC Personal Computers announced new LAVIE laptops for individual users on 27 October. All models will go on sale, with shipments beginning, on 29 October.
Under its new brand policy, the company is building around LAVIE (La Vie: life) and has adopted the brand statement “Take your possibilities one step further,” which reflects the brand’s origins. It is expanding its product lineup, including through rebranding.
The LAVIE S13 (13.3-inch) is aimed primarily at Generation Z, with increased battery capacity compared with previous models and a thinner, lighter design. The lineup consists of retail and CTO models. The operating system is Windows 11 Home, with Pro also available as an option for CTO models.
The laptops use processors from the Core Ultra series, with Core Ultra 5 322 in the entry-level model and Core Ultra 7 355 in the higher-end model. Retail models have 16GB of memory, while CTO models offer 16GB or 32GB. Storage is 512GB for retail models, while CTO models can be configured with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB.
The display is 13.3 inches with a resolution of 1920×1200, touch support and a glossy finish. The Full HD webcam supports facial recognition but has no shutter. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. USB-C and USB-A port configurations vary by model, and a 5-day Microsoft 365 trial is also available when the CTO option is selected.
Pricing is approximately ¥313,000 for the entry-level retail model and ¥335,000 for the higher-end model, while the minimum CTO configuration is around ¥300,000. The retail models use the L battery with a capacity of 76.1Wh, while CTO models use the M battery with a capacity of 54.7Wh, with a lighter configuration also available.
