Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Himino Ryozo (氷見野 良三) said that thorough discussions would be held at every Monetary Policy Meeting, and again emphasized the need to remain mindful of upside risks to prices in light of expectations for a September rate hike.
Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Himino Ryozo (氷見野 良三) was reported to have indicated that the central bank would continue to hold thorough discussions at every meeting, including the next Monetary Policy Meeting.
Deputy Governor Himino pointed to the need to remain more strongly mindful of upside risks to prices, while stopping short of saying that future rate hikes would be considered at every meeting, including the next one.
Market participants assessed that the remarks contained nothing new and did not increase the certainty of a rate hike as much as had been expected.
At the same time, he did not rule out a rate hike, and some observers believe that the market view of a September rate hike remains unchanged.
