The Nikkei Stock Average closed at ¥64,425.95 on the 15th, down ¥3,318.34 from the previous day. The decline was on par with recent major market drops, and selling spread against the backdrop of currency movements and developments in the US market.
The decline extended to 6 consecutive trading sessions. Stocks regarded as market leaders, including AI-related and semiconductor stocks, were broadly sold, contributing to the Nikkei's decline. Advantest, Tokyo Electron and SoftBank Group together pushed the Nikkei down by more than approximately ¥2,100.
