クリーク・アンド・リバー社 supported the creation of a digital archive of the Former Negishi Racecourse First-class Grandstand, a historic structure designated by Yokohama City. The archive is scheduled to be made available at umamisho.heritabi.com, and acceptance of hometown tax donations to fund its preservation and use, including seismic retrofitting, has also begun.
The Former Negishi Racecourse First-class Grandstand in Yokohama is a seven-story, steel-framed reinforced-concrete historic structure built in 1929, after the Great Kanto Earthquake. It is regarded as the only surviving prewar racecourse grandstand of its kind in Japan. It is now part of Negishi Forest Park, where it serves as a place for residents to relax, although the interior is not accessible for safety reasons.
As an alternative to opening the interior to the public, a virtual experience featuring 4 types of content will be provided. These include promotional videos offering ground-level and aerial views, 3D modeling of the exterior, a 360° virtual tour allowing visitors to freely explore the interior, and a collection of photographs taken by 8 creators.
As part of efforts to support the structure’s preservation and use, acceptance of hometown tax donations has begun. The funds will be used for seismic retrofitting and other work. The project is being carried out by Yokohama City and NPO J-heritage, with クリーク・アンド・リバー社 participating as a production partner.
The digital archive will be available at umamisho.heritabi.com. クリーク・アンド・リバー社 is among the companies and organizations supporting the project. The initiative has been presented as an effort to preserve and make use of the region’s historic assets.
