The first Italian Food Fair has opened at the event venue on the 6th floor of Takasaki Takashimaya in Takasaki, Gunma. Twenty-six food brands, including pasta and gelato, along with miscellaneous goods are on offer, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience Italy at close hand. The event runs through 5 October.
On the 30th, a food fair featuring Italian cuisine and handicrafts opened at Takasaki Takashimaya in Takasaki, Gunma. Taking advantage of Gunma Prefecture’s high wheat production in the Kanto region, the fair aims to provide an opportunity to experience Italy at a time when the weak yen and rising prices make overseas travel difficult.
The 6th-floor venue features 26 food brands, including lasagna and gelato, as well as pendants and miscellaneous goods. Visitors can use eat-in seating to enjoy freshly prepared pasta, and the venue was busy around lunchtime with customers purchasing bento and seasonings.
According to the public relations department, sales at food fairs have remained strong, with the spring Hokkaido Food Fair achieving record-high sales. The event reflects a consumer preference for enjoying such experiences casually closer to home.
