ニチモウバイオティックス株式会社 will change the name of its fermented kinako confectionery, Fermented Kinako Candy, and relaunch it as Crispy Fermented Kinako from October 2026.
The name change was prompted by customer feedback that the word “candy” suggests that the product should be licked, with the aim of better conveying its crispy texture, which is intended to be enjoyed by chewing.
The packaging has also been substantially refreshed, with a design using an image of the product’s cross-section to convey its crispiness. Its modern Japanese design is intended to make it an appealing gift choice.
The best-before period has been extended from 7 months to 12 months. The product lineup includes a 3-flavor assortment of kinako, sesame and matcha, and the official online shop and Rakuten marketplace store are listed as sales channels.
