Tokyo stocks rebounded on the morning of the 9th, with the Nikkei Stock Average temporarily gaining more than ¥500.
As of 10 a.m., the Nikkei was up ¥356.74 from the previous day at ¥65,626.07, while TOPIX was up 20.22 points at 4070.55.
Stocks comprising the semiconductor sector rose in the US market the previous day, with notable gains in AI- and semiconductor-related stocks such as SoftBank Group and Fujikura, a leading maker of optical fiber cables.
The market was also supported by a pause in the yen's appreciation against the dollar in the foreign exchange market.
Meanwhile, the exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran continued amid tensions in the Middle East, and the Nikkei temporarily turned lower on expectations that disruptions to crude oil supplies would be prolonged.
