The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced the recipients selected in the first call for applications for the GX Regional Co-Creation Subsidy. 7 projects were selected under the manufacturing equipment investment category and 4 under the data center equipment investment category.
The 7 companies cited as examples of recipients under the manufacturing equipment investment category are GlobalWafers Japan, Nippon Shokubai, Advantech, Oishii Farm, 日本 NGK, Musashi Energy Solutions and Pure Salmon Japan. The companies plan to build new manufacturing platforms and factories using regional GX power sources and manufacturing-focused Vertical AI, strengthen their supply chains, and develop production facilities using renewable energy.
Under the data center equipment investment category, 4 companies were selected: Kyocera Communication Systems, 薩摩川内DCエネルギーマネジメントセンター合同会社, 計算資源開発島根 and NIN. They plan to use decarbonised electricity and develop local infrastructure for AI data centers.
The purpose of these selections is to support companies developing high-value-added business activities based on the use of decarbonised power sources in local areas. A feature of the subsidy framework is that it covers part of the costs required for capital investment, with the stated aim of promoting regional energy circulation and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
