It has been suggested that downward revisions to AU's earnings outlook are undermining confidence in the long-term cash flow outlook for AngloGold Ashanti's Arthur Gold Project.
AngloGold Ashanti's Arthur Gold Project is expected to have estimated reserves of approximately 4.9 million ounces and all-in sustaining costs (AISC) of approximately US$954 per ounce, which are said to support future cash flow while absorbing inflation and increased payments to the government.
Against a backdrop of slower production in the first half of 2026 and a downgrade in its Zacks Rank, the project's economics are said to represent a key point of divergence in investor assessments, while the risks of rising operating and fiscal burdens are also being raised behind the optimistic long-term outlook.
The company's forecasts indicate that revenue will reach approximately US$12.1 billion and earnings approximately US$5.5 billion by 2029, requiring earnings to increase by US$170 million from current revenue of US$380 million. Fair value is estimated at US$113.12, with the view that the current price has 6% downside.
Meanwhile, one of the most optimistic analysts had previously projected revenue of approximately US$20 billion and earnings of approximately US$6.4 billion, and recent revisions to earnings forecasts and concerns over costs are prompting a reassessment of that optimistic view.
