Chiba City has opened a drone demonstration area at sewerage facilities and an underwater and surface-water drone demonstration area through the Chiba Drone Demonstration One-Stop Center, a new hub for promoting drone demonstrations. The areas opened on 23 October 2026, and guidance is provided on demonstration locations and how to coordinate operations.
The sewerage facilities area is located near Miyakawa Park, at the entrance to the Central Stormwater Trunk Sewer (1-2-1 Nagasu, Chuo-ku), for demonstrations of drones flying inside pipelines. Use is free of charge, and the location, date and time, and demonstration details are coordinated through the demonstration center.
The underwater and surface-water areas are located at 2 sites, Inage Yacht Harbor and in front of Sanbashi Hiroba, for demonstrations of underwater and surface-water drones in actual bodies of water. Fees may apply, and procedures are carried out in accordance with the operating conditions of each facility.
The opening is positioned as part of efforts to establish an environment for expanding the use of drones across a range of fields. The results of future demonstrations and operating methods are expected to be communicated.
