The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters have provisionally selected approximately 46 hectares in Eniwa’s Nishijimamatsu and Minamijimamatsu districts as a candidate site for relocating their farm facilities. Construction is targeted to begin in 2028, with opening planned for 2030 or 2031, as the project is expected to move forward in conjunction with the area’s new urban district development plan.
The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters formally provisionally selected a candidate site in Eniwa for relocating their farm facilities on 2 July. The site covers approximately 46 hectares between Megumino and Shimamatsu stations, with opening planned for 2030 or 2031. The relocation is being developed not as a standalone stadium project, but in conjunction with a plan to develop a new urban district in Nishijimamatsu.
Eniwa has been considering Nishijimamatsu and Minamijimamatsu as candidates for a new urban district. The city conducted a survey of landowners’ intentions regarding land use in 2024 and included the development of a new urban district in its 2025 revision of the urban planning master plan. The development is envisioned as an integrated community combining housing, commercial facilities, education, parks and public transport.
Progress on the development has been supported by advances in obtaining consent from landowners. As of late June, consent had been obtained for approximately 99% of the area, and the city plans to include approximately ¥1.53 billion in a supplementary budget to fund surveying, compensation for properties, building demolition and buried cultural property surveys. The overall framework, including the division of costs between the team and the city and the specific project costs, is expected to be discussed going forward.
