Wayfarer announced that it had completed the first close of its Series A financing for Materia Connect, an AI platform for hotel operations. The amount raised was not disclosed, and the lead fund was Canon Marketing Japan MIRAI Fund.
Materia Connect is a platform that implements AI functions in cooperation with PMSs. It connects hotels’ daily workflows and data, as well as external AI agents, via APIs without requiring them to replace their existing systems. It is currently in operation at 13 properties operated by Wayfarer.
Wayfarer intends to expand provision to hotels other than its own properties. It has publicly reported that its in-house operations achieved a maximum 25% improvement in RevPAR through measures including AI-based pricing adjustments. The funds will be used to expand in major cities in Japan, develop AI, API, data, and automation functions, recruit personnel, and prepare for future overseas expansion.
