China’s ULS Robotics has released the consumer outdoor device “VIATRIX X.” Weighing 2.58 kg and offering 6–7 hours of operating time, it uses a replaceable battery. The device incorporates the FLOAT 360 floating mechanism, and ULS has partnered with Sweden’s Haglöfs to begin offering in-store demonstrations.
China’s exoskeleton-device maker ULS Robotics has launched the consumer outdoor device “VIATRIX X.” It is aimed at business professionals who enjoy weekend trekking and outdoor enthusiasts, and is positioned as a new product that combines light weight with extended use.
The VIATRIX X weighs 2.58 kg when worn, excluding the battery, and offers 6–7 hours of operating time. The battery is said to be easily replaceable. Its proprietary power system uses flat-wire technology, reducing resistance and heat generation. The company says performance has improved by 20–30% over the previous generation while the system has been made approximately 40% smaller.
The control system detects movement using an adaptive algorithm with a response time of approximately 0.5–1 milliseconds and adjusts the level of assistance. Boost mode increases output on hills and when carrying loads, while the design maintains basic assistance even when the battery level is low. The system is intended to combine long-distance walking with short bursts of powerful assistance.
To improve wearing comfort, the device uses the FLOAT 360 floating mechanism, which allows the joints to move in line with the user’s posture. For sales, ULS has partnered with Haglöfs and plans to install demonstration areas in physical stores so customers can experience the fit and assistance effects directly.
