Nestlé Japan announced that its home coffee machine, the NESCAFÉ Gold Blend Barista kotone, will go on sale on 1 October. Priced at ¥22,000 including tax, it features reduced noise, the company's first replaceable tank and a new app.
Nestlé Japan announced the new NESCAFÉ Gold Blend Barista kotone (コトネ), which will go on sale nationwide at consumer electronics retailers and online stores on 1 October. It will be available in 3 colors: Premium Black, Premium White and Cool Gray, and will be priced at ¥22,000, including tax.
The company identified “noise,” “size” and “maintenance” as areas for improvement based on feedback about previous models, and adopted the quietest design in the series' history. At approximately 10.8 cm wide, the machine is the slimmest in the series. It is also equipped with the first coffee tank that can be replaced with a tank for decaffeinated coffee.
The new NESCAFÉ app will be released on 1 October, with teamLab participating in its development. Users can record adjustments to the strength and volume of their coffee based on their preferences, and earn points by drinking coffee or gaining knowledge about it. The company plans to expand the system to cover all of its products in the future.
As the role of coffee at home is reassessed and time spent at home increases, the company emphasized a stronger focus on the experience rather than value for money per cup. kotone is intended to become a model accounting for a certain proportion of total shipments, and the company also planned future marketing communications, including television commercials.
