At its FY2027 Q1 earnings briefing, Macbee Planet outlined its management policy under the new leadership and disclosed plans to roughly halve its workforce through the transfer of shares in consolidated subsidiary All Ads. Revenue declined in the first quarter, while operating profit edged up year on year.
Macbee Planet’s first-quarter results under its new leadership presented a mixed picture, with lower revenue but higher profit. Under newly appointed representative director and president Hideyuki Shoda (正田英之), who was decided on in September 2026, the company expressed its determination to “rebuild the company.” It also announced a group reorganization involving the transfer of shares in consolidated subsidiary All Ads and outlined a policy of significantly streamlining its workforce from 201 to 107.
In the first quarter, lower advertising rates in the online medical care sector weighed on revenue, while the impact of high media costs in the lending and card sectors subsided, driving an increase in gross profit. Although personnel expenses rose, the company kept advertising expenses under control, resulting in year-on-year growth in operating profit.
By industry, revenue in the finance sector was trending higher, while the wellness sector reported lower revenue due to the impact of online medical care. The new leadership’s policy of returning to growth and the effects of the group reorganization are expected to have a significant bearing on the company’s medium-term strategy.
The full-year forecast was left unchanged, and the company said it would disclose the impact of the All Ads sale once the amount has been finalized. Management indicated that financial soundness would be maintained while securing capacity for additional growth investment.
The funds from the group reorganization will be allocated to investment in new businesses and M&A. The company also set out a policy of evolving its marketing-centered business structure into “a company that starts with marketing.”
