Sumitomo Chemical has begun sales of the new fungicide ベレラ in Paraguay. Containing the active ingredient パベクト, it is the company’s first overseas rollout, with registration for sales in Brazil and Europe planned for the future.
Sumitomo Chemical began sales of the new fungicide ベレラ in Paraguay in October. In Paraguay, the product is primarily intended for soybeans and contains パベクト, its active fungicidal ingredient. パベクト was jointly developed with Germany’s BASF and is positioned as the first stage of the overseas rollout. The company is reportedly planning to accelerate registration and sales expansion in Brazil and Europe.
In the domestic market, パベクト had already begun sales in 2023 and is used to prevent diseases in sugar beet. The launch in Paraguay is positioned as part of the overseas rollout and is described as one of the three products driving the company’s agrochemical business.
Looking ahead, if sales in Paraguay gain traction, the company plans to accelerate registration and sales in Brazil and Europe. It aims to expand in overseas markets after obtaining local use approvals and completing the registration process.
The announcement is positioned as part of Sumitomo Chemical’s overseas strategy for its agrochemical business and indicates a policy of expanding overseas sales of the three core products containing パベクト.
