Hai Phong City announced plans to advance the digital integration of logistics data and supply chains and strengthen industrial support through port automation and data standardization.
The plan aims to support the development of supporting industries by linking logistics data with production, investment and smart data applications. It is intended to promote growth across the city by eliminating port bottlenecks and improving the capabilities of domestic companies.
At present, data is fragmented among ports, shipping companies, transport operators and regulatory agencies, and standardized data connectivity is lacking. This is hindering the prediction and coordination of cargo flows and the allocation of container yards.
Specifically, automatic gate operations at Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port achieved 100% truck throughput and reduced turnaround times to less than 14 minutes. The cost and time required to develop the port power grid were also identified as challenges. Data connectivity and infrastructure need to be strengthened simultaneously.
Plans for digital mapping include developing a supplier-capability database and integrating free-trade-zone data to help foreign companies find domestic partners and domestic companies upgrade their technology. In line with the 2026–2035 plan, the city also aims to establish systems for monthly estimates of GRDP and the industrial production index, as well as delay alerts.
Priority issues include building a port and logistics data platform, using data to forecast economic growth, and developing supporting-industry supply chains in electronics, semiconductors and shipbuilding. Development of the Smart Hai Phong app was identified as a prerequisite for the transition to digital government and a smart city.
