The Nikkei average extended its gains, led by Advantest following its strong results. Trading value swelled amid activity surrounding changes to the TOPIX constituents.
The Nikkei average closed at 64,659, up ¥705, while trading value on the Prime Market exceeded ¥13 trillion, reaching its highest level in four months. Changes to the TOPIX constituents boosted trading activity.
Nisshin Seifun Group’s share price rose 7%, while net income for April–September increased 76%. The increase was affected by the company’s efforts to strengthen its overseas operations, including a tempura flour plant in North America.
Komatsu raised its net income forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 to ¥382 billion, reportedly reflecting stronger-than-expected demand for construction machinery and vehicles. Konami Group also raised its net income forecast for the same period to ¥135 billion.
Investors are monitoring the impact of the TOPIX rebalancing and earnings from major companies ahead of the next day’s trading.
