Mitsubishi Electric announced that it will acquire MEDCOM, a Polish rail equipment company, to expand its operations in Europe. It plans to acquire all shares through a Dutch subsidiary and aims to complete the procedures by September.
Mitsubishi Electric announced on the 7th that it will acquire MEDCOM, a Polish company engaged in electrical equipment for railways. As demand for rail-related products in the European market grows amid increasing attention to railways as a lower-environmental-impact means of transport, Mitsubishi Electric aims to expand its business.
MEDCOM manufactures and sells auxiliary power supply equipment that supplies electricity to air-conditioning and lighting systems in rail cars. It has also developed products incorporating Mitsubishi Electric power semiconductors. Revenue in 2025 was 610 million zloty (approximately ¥26 billion), and the company has approximately 450 employees.
Mitsubishi Electric will acquire all shares of MEDCOM through its Dutch subsidiary. The purchase price has not been disclosed. By making MEDCOM a wholly owned subsidiary, Mitsubishi Electric aims to improve management efficiency and strengthen business competitiveness. Subject to regulatory approval, it aims to complete the procedures by September.
The acquisition is expected to expand Mitsubishi Electric's European business in rail power supply and related equipment, but formal disclosure should be awaited regarding its actual implementation and impact going forward.
