Dubai crude futures on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange rose for a fourth consecutive session. The settlement price for the January 2027 fifth contract was ¥78,440, up ¥870 from the previous day, while the February 2027 sixth contract settled at ¥77,050, up ¥580. Other contract months also remained at high levels.
Daytime trading opened with buying in the lead, as the market carried over the firm tone from WTI crude oil futures, which rose at the start of the week amid concerns that exchanges of attacks between the United States and Iran could escalate. The market as a whole remained firm thereafter, supported by the continued strength of WTI and a weaker yen against the dollar.
There were no trades in index futures including electricity, gasoline, LNG and Osaka Exchange's CME crude oil futures.
