AnGes,Inc. has received a grant to advance research and development of a subcutaneous formulation of AV-001, a Tie2 receptor agonist being jointly developed with the Canadian biopharmaceutical company Vasomune. The grant is provided through the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program and consists of up to 28347 Canadian dollars and advisory services.
AV-001 is a Tie2 receptor agonist targeting widespread vascular leakage associated with injury or disease. While development is currently proceeding on the basis of intravenous administration, subcutaneous administration is expected to be added. Evaluating subcutaneous administration could expand the options for when the drug is administered, potentially improving convenience and enabling more rapid therapeutic intervention.
If subcutaneous administration is achieved, applications in both civilian and military settings are expected, although no specific introduction date or scope of use has been provided at this stage. Further updates from the company will be watched closely.
