A plan has been announced to build a new semiconductor business in New York State, United States, with an investment of approximately $10 billion, as part of the total $550 billion investment in the United States. The investment is expected to have broad spillover effects, including opportunities for Japanese companies to supply materials and equipment.
GlobalFoundries, a major semiconductor manufacturer, plans to build a semiconductor fab in New York State, United States, with the project valued at approximately $10 billion (approximately ¥1.6 trillion). The project is positioned as part of the government-led investment of $550 billion in the United States.
Government officials expressed the view that the investment would generate significant benefits for Japanese companies and contribute to supply-chain stability, including for small and midsize companies.
