Google’s new wearable device has passed FCC approval and may feature standalone GPS functionality. It is reportedly considered highly likely to be positioned as a new product in the Pixel series.
According to FCC certification documents, the device’s model number is G8BL6 and its FCC ID is SZGG8BL6. The certification was granted on 10 September 2026. The applicant is China-based Weifang Goertek Electronics. The only wireless technologies listed are Bluetooth Low Energy and GNSS, with no mention of Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity.
The device is believed to include GPS functionality, enabling standalone positioning rather than relying on features linked to a smartphone. The certification documents also indicate that it has a metal frame and a display. Because it matches an unreleased device shown in advertisements, it is believed to be a new Pixel-branded product.
The fact that Goertek is the applicant may also link the device to the Fitbit brand. Google launched the Pixel Watch in Japan in August and has highlighted features including FeliCa support. It has been noted that the device was positioned as a Pixel-branded product in advertisements.
There has been no official announcement, and it is unclear whether G8BL6 is a new Pixel-branded product or will be launched as a Fitbit device. However, based on the wording in the advertisements and the relationship with the applicant, it is considered highly likely to be a new Pixel-related product.
