The BS TV Tokyo program examines the current status and future of work style reform in Japan, including the adoption of the inter-shift rest period system, the debate over the right to disconnect and the economic impact.
The program is titled Watch Nikkei! News NEXT and will air from 21:00 to 22:00 on 26 October 2026 (Monday). The program will feature main anchor Yagi Hitomi (八木ひとみ), commentator Minegishi Hiroshi (峯岸博), a Nikkei editorial board member and anchor Yamamoto Sachie (山本倖千恵).
The program covers progress on work style reform in Japan and introduces the status of the adoption of the inter-shift rest period system being considered by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, as well as the issues surrounding possible revisions. It also examines the current situation, in which the right to disconnect, which would regulate contact outside working hours, has not been institutionalised in Japan.
The guests are Suwa Takako (諏訪貴子), president of Daiya Seiki, and Ishizuka Yukio (石塚由紀夫), a Nikkei editorial board member. The program presents a discussion on the future outlook for work style reform and its economic impact.
