Keio University SFC Research Institute, Japan Radio (JRC) and upr announced that they had developed a prototype of a new DXh tag combining long-range communication with immediate response, and conducted evaluation testing at the upr pallet depot in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture. The DXh tag integrates active and passive functions.
Keio University SFC Research Institute, Japan Radio (JRC) and upr announced that they had developed a prototype of a new tag, provisionally named the DXh tag, for use with the Smart Pallet pallet management application. In addition to the long-range communication and long service life of the existing DX tag, the new tag integrates passive communication, improving its immediate response when communication settings are changed and its flexibility for joint retrieval.
The DXh tag integrates active communication in the 920 MHz band with passive communication compliant with ISO/IEC 18000-65. It can be activated with low power consumption, requiring almost no power source, and is expected to enable joint retrieval with pallets from other companies and the rapid linking of cargo with pallets.
Evaluation testing was conducted in July 2026 at the upr pallet depot in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture. Going forward, the companies will pursue research and development based on the prototype results and consider implementation in Smart Pallet.
