AD Works Group has entered into agreements with Nikko City and Matsumoto City to acquire development sites and grid connection rights for grid-scale battery storage facilities. Against a target of 15 sites in total by the end of 2026, progress has reached 11 sites as of now. Details are as follows.
AD Works Group has entered into agreements to acquire development sites and grid connection rights for Project No. 10 of its grid-scale battery storage business in Nikko City and Project No. 11 in Matsumoto City. The two projects will each have an output of approximately 2 MW and capacity of approximately 8 MWh, and development work and grid connection procedures are expected to proceed.
Operations are expected to begin in January 2028. The Nikko City project is subject to the confirmation of various conditions, including construction related to grid interconnection, as conditions precedent. The development of the company’s battery storage facilities, including these two projects, is therefore expected to proceed in stages.
To date, including these two projects, the company has acquired a total of 11 development sites, 2 of which have already begun operations. Competition is increasing in the grid-scale battery storage market, and the company is expected to continue bringing planned facilities into operation and expanding its revenue opportunities.
This move is viewed as an effort to expand the company’s network of project information and improve the accuracy of its investment decisions amid intensifying competition to secure grid connection rights and suitable sites. Future developments are expected to become clear through the acquisition of additional development sites and the announcement of projects commencing operations.
