The BOJ released the minutes of its July meeting, in which several committee members expressed views on a flexible approach to the pace of rate hikes, assessment of the risks of waiting and anchoring the 2% inflation target.
The minutes of the BOJ monetary policy meeting held on 30 and 31 July were released. Several committee members expressed the need for a flexible response to changes in overseas financial conditions and the view that, unlike previously, it cannot be said that the risks of waiting are small.
Many committee members also expressed the recognition that policy judgment was gradually shifting toward anchoring the underlying inflation rate at around 2%.
These comments suggest that the BOJ is deepening its discussion of how future interest-rate decisions should be made on the premise of achieving its price stability target.
