South Korea's S-Energy announced that cumulative orders for large-scale solar EPC projects this year had exceeded KRW 30 billion. It plans to strengthen its grid-scale ESS business for Japan to improve profitability.
South Korean solar specialist S-Energy announced on the 26th that it had successively won orders for large-scale solar projects for power-generating public utilities this year, bringing cumulative EPC order intake to more than ₩30 billion. The company said it would use public-sector orders as a springboard to strengthen its framework for turning orders into project track records.
The largest project is the approximately ₩12 billion Jeju Gasiri solar project for Korea Southern Power, followed by an approximately ₩7.2 billion definitive contract with Japanese trading company Kamei for solar repowering. A solar project on idle land for Korea Western Power is also included in the order list. S-Energy will additionally supply modules for the Incheon Namdong Industrial Complex RE100 project and Seoul Arena BIPV project.
Alongside securing a stable pipeline of public-sector projects, S-Energy plans to expand its ESS business, with the Japanese market as an important source of revenue. Working with its local subsidiary and a Korean investment company, it is establishing an integrated framework covering business development, EPC and O&M, with the aim of improving profitability by assessing the impact of variables such as grid interconnection and permitting.
