Toyota Motor Corporation announced that consolidated operating profit for the fiscal year ending March 2027 is expected to reach ¥3.9 trillion. The forecast was raised by ¥500 billion from the previous forecast, with profit growth expected. Sales are projected at ¥53.5 trillion and net income at ¥3.57 trillion. Strong HV sales and yen depreciation against foreign currencies are expected to lift profit.
HV sales from April to September rose 8% to 2.36 million units. While demand for HVs remains firm, particularly in the US, they are supporting earnings as weakness in China has led to a decline in global sales. The average exchange rate during the period is expected to be approximately ¥159 per dollar, ¥13 weaker than in the same period a year earlier, with the weaker yen expected to boost operating profit by approximately ¥735 billion.
Cost improvements are expected to contribute ¥1.085 trillion and yen depreciation ¥735 billion to profit growth. These gains are expected to offset ¥505 billion in effects from the Middle East and ¥980 billion from higher material prices.
After the earnings announcement at 1:55 p.m., the share price temporarily rose as much as 15% from the previous day. In the consolidated results for April-September 2026, sales rose 9% year on year to ¥26.9624 trillion and net income rose 26% to ¥2.2364 trillion.
