MOS FOOD SERVICES acquired ビー・ワイ・オー, a Japanese cuisine operator, as a subsidiary for ¥11.2 billion, bringing the Japanese cuisine business into the group as a new core business alongside hamburgers.
MOS FOOD SERVICES, which operates MOS Burger, the Japanese-born hamburger chain, acquired and made ビー・ワイ・オー, a company focused on Japanese cuisine, a subsidiary. The acquisition price was approximately ¥11.2 billion, making it the largest M&A transaction in the company’s history as it seeks to expand its restaurant portfolio.
ビー・ワイ・オー mainly operates Japanese cuisine businesses. The acquisition is reportedly intended to bring Japanese cuisine into the group as a new format alongside MOS Burger. The acquisition appears to have been completed on 31 July 2026, and the group’s restaurant network is expected to become more diversified depending on future developments.
MOS FOOD SERVICES has indicated that it plans to expand its Japanese cuisine business as its second core business after hamburgers, with a view to accelerating overseas expansion and pursuing growth through collaboration with its existing businesses.
