Toyo Seikan Group Holdings,Ltd. participated for the first time in the business contest “Decarbo Challenge 2026 Summer,” organised by Earth hacks, and won the grand prize for “Peripo,” a new model designed to make resource collection more engaging.
Toyo Seikan Group Holdings,Ltd. participated for the first time in Decarbo Challenge 2026 Summer, held in September 2026. The initiative brings companies, local governments and others together with university students to create business ideas that contribute to achieving a decarbonised society. The company's proposal focused on the theme of creating the world's coolest resource collection system.
The student team that addressed the challenge with the company proposed “Peripo,” a new resource collection model using paper containers, and won the grand prize. The idea uses the Tokan FF CUP ES paper container as its base and develops it into a popcorn container that allows users to sort materials while enjoying the act of peeling off the film.
The model is intended for use at cinemas, school festivals and similar venues, with the aim of encouraging consumer participation in the sorting process. Going forward, the company plans to consider practical implementation in cooperation with relevant organisations and advance the development of a resource collection model for entertainment facilities and event venues.
