On 24 June 2025, Shinagawa Ward entered into a partnership agreement with CHARM CARE CORPORATION concerning support for young carers. The company announced that it would use 5 nursing homes in the ward to carry out 4 programs.
First, under the respite support program, young carers who care for family members certified as requiring long-term care will be able to take a break from caregiving, either overnight or during the day, and secure time for studying or hobbies. The program will accept both the people receiving care and the young carers.
Second, under the employment training support program, the company will provide part-time work opportunities at nursing homes for young carers and former young carers aged 16 to 39, supporting flexible working arrangements.
Third, under the scholarship repayment assistance program, the company will make scholarship repayments on behalf of young carers facing financial difficulties so that they can focus on their work.
Fourth, Kodomo ga Café, a café for children and young carers, will be held at nursing homes, with young carers participating as staff. The first event was held in March 2024.
