The number of devices running HarmonyOS 6, developed by Huawei, has surpassed 80 million, Chinese media reported. The number of devices running the operating system is expected to continue growing, accelerating toward the annual target of 100 million.
ZOL reported that Yu Chengdong (余承東), an executive director of Huawei Technologies, announced at a new product launch event that the number of devices running HarmonyOS 6 had surpassed 80 million. This officially confirms previous estimates.
The number of devices running HarmonyOS 6 reportedly exceeded 47 million in March, reached 66 million in June and 70 million in early July, and reached 80 million in mid-August. Yu Chengdong (余承東) indicated that the number is expected to surpass 100 million before winter arrives.
In China's smartphone operating system market in the first quarter of 2026, HarmonyOS reached a 19% share, surpassing iOS's 17% and becoming the country's second-largest operating system for the first time. HarmonyOS has 11 million developers, more than 380,000 apps in its app market, and a 97% support rate among China's top 100 apps.
The current monthly growth rate remains above approximately 170,000 devices, and momentum is expected to accelerate in the fourth quarter with the launch of new models. The annual target of 100 million devices is therefore considered achievable.
