The 11th Battlewin Injury Prevention Clinic was held at Yanagigaura High School in Oita Prefecture. Through taping courses and practical training provided by the JFA and Nichiban, the event promoted greater awareness of injury prevention.
The 11th Battlewin Injury Prevention Clinic, a joint project of the JFA and Nichiban, was held on 29 September at Yanagigaura High School in Oita. The event introduced sessions in which players learned about injury prevention and took part in taping courses and practical training.
Former professional soccer player Sakaguchi Mizuho (阪口 夢穂) gave a lecture. Drawing on her own experience of suffering a serious knee injury during her career, she spoke about the importance of taping for injury prevention. Under Nichiban's instruction, the clinic also taught participants how to use 1-2 strips of tape with elasticity similar to that of muscles, encouraging its use in everyday life.
The clinic aims not only to address injuries after they occur, but also to create an environment in which players can continue competing for longer by promoting taping for prevention. Players who tried simple taping of the calves and ankles said they felt supported and reassured.
The JFA and Nichiban plan to continue the SOCCER MEDICAL CAMP while expanding and promoting the Battlewin Injury Prevention Clinic for high school students from 2025. Their aim is to broaden the base of soccer as a lifelong sport.
The clinic expressed the view that spreading knowledge of injury prevention and the use of preventive taping would help players continue competing. A plan has been established to visit all 47 prefectures over 3 years, with educational activities involving practical training at each location expected to continue.
