Hokkaido Electric Power announced that it will launch the new service “Hokuden BANK,” which allows customers to open accounts through a smartphone app, on 14 October. The service will be provided by UI Bank, a digital bank under Tokyo Kiraboshi Financial Group, and is expected to use the bank's functions to accept deposits and provide loans.
To use the service, customers must link their Hokkaido Electric Power member-service account to a newly created account. Customers will open an account through the app and receive points by setting electricity and gas bill payments to automatic bank transfer.
If customers meet conditions including those relating to bill payments, the points rate based on payments may reach a maximum of 10%. Full-scale operations are expected to begin from the service launch date, improving convenience for users.
