On 27 October, Dell Technologies held an inauguration press conference at its Otemachi head office in Chiyoda, Tokyo, for John Lobottom, who became representative director and president in August. In addition to explaining the direction of its AI business in the Japanese market and the latest findings from its research into corporate AI adoption, the company opened the AI Innovation Lab and Tech Rally Residency Tokyo after the press conference as facilities supporting AI demonstration projects and co-creation.
President Lobottom said that Japanese companies are moving from the introduction and testing of AI to generating results, and explained the company's policy of supporting their adoption of AI through the development of AI infrastructure, talent development and collaboration with partners.
The Modern Enterprise Readiness Study 2026, released the same day, showed that 58% of Japanese companies had moved beyond the initial and intermediate stages of generative AI adoption, up from 35% in 2025. At the same time, 72% said they require proven business results and a clear risk-management plan as conditions for pursuing new AI initiatives.
The AI Innovation Lab is a demonstration facility operated by the Customer Solutions Center. It includes a solutions theater and exhibition areas, providing an environment where visitors can review AI use cases and consider implementation. During the tour, the company presented a multilingual demonstration of the digital human “Aine” and “My Walkie” for the healthcare sector, as well as potential applications for reception guidance and training.
