Kyoto Taiwan Festival 2026 was organized by the International Business Linkage Organization, a general incorporated association, and held from 20 to 26 July 2026 at Otosan Hiroba, the venue in front of Higashi Honganji Temple in Kyoto. A total of 40,000 visitors attended during the event, which featured stalls serving Taiwanese cuisine, stage performances by Japanese and Taiwanese performers, street entertainment and a wide range of other programming.
The venue featured authentic Taiwanese food, including braised pork rice, beef noodle soup, scallion pancakes, Taiwanese fried chicken cutlets and Taiwanese tea. Many visitors from Japan were seen enjoying conversations with Taiwanese vendors, promoting natural interaction through food. Performances of music and traditional culture, as well as Japanese taiko drumming and the Chinese erhu, were also held, offering programming for everyone from children to adults.
On the final day, surplus ingredients remaining from the event were provided to children in the local community, creating an opportunity to address food waste and strengthen ties with the local area. Plans were outlined to continue creating opportunities for international and business exchange based on the connections between Japan and Taiwan.
