President Putin (プーチン大統領) signed an additional presidential decree on the 6th, placing assets of Japan Tobacco (JT)'s Russian business under the provisional administration of Russian companies. The newly covered assets are all shares in 3 JT-affiliated companies, including Pereslavl Tobacco, bringing the total number of companies under provisional administration to 7.
On the 6th, the Russian government signed an additional presidential decree placing JT's assets in Russia under the provisional administration of Russian companies. The newly placed assets included all shares in 3 JT-affiliated companies, including Pereslavl Tobacco in the western Yaroslavl region.
Earlier, on the 6th, Putin (プーチン氏) had issued an order placing 4 Russian companies under JT International (JTI) under provisional administration, and the Japanese government has protested the measure and called for its withdrawal.
The Russian Foreign Ministry cited Birichevsky (ビリチェフスキー), director of its Department of Economic Cooperation, as saying that the measure to place the assets of companies from “unfriendly countries,” including the United States and European countries, under provisional administration was “a countermeasure against blatant hostile acts by foreign countries that threaten Russia's security and illegally expropriate Russian assets.”
Birichevsky's (ビリチェフスキー) claim indicates a stance of countering sanctions imposed in response to the invasion of Ukraine and may also represent a possible reaction against Japan.
