Information on GLOBAL 6K FOR WATER 2026, organised by World Vision Japan. Registration has closed, and the event includes a 6-kilometre run and walk experience, with information provided on the allocation of support funds.
Against the backdrop of children in developing countries walking approximately 6 km every day to obtain water, GLOBAL 6K FOR WATER 2026 will be held. Through the experience of walking, running and feeling the distance, the event provides an opportunity for participants to consider the water crisis as a personal issue.
Registration for this year has closed, and thanks have been expressed to the many people who applied. The event will be held simultaneously in 5 Asian countries as well as at venues across Japan, communicating the importance of water assistance by allowing participants to experience a distance of more than 6 km for themselves.
The event will be held at Toyosu Park, Trees and Flowers and Monument Plaza, on Sunday, 18 October, rain or shine. The entry fee is ¥4,000 for the run and ¥4,000 for the walk; the parent-child walk costs ¥3,000 for a parent or guardian and ¥1,500 for a child; and the 90-minute relay marathon costs ¥3,500. Approximately 30% of the total proceeds are scheduled to be used for water assistance projects in Kenya.
Specific effects of water assistance in the field, including the provision of safe water and improved access to education, are introduced. Participant comments include impressions such as the joy of finishing the run and feeling the water issue more personally.
Participants may run or walk, and information is provided that families, friends and colleagues can take part at their own pace.
The event's activities last year and information on sponsoring companies are also introduced, with emphasis placed on expanding the circle of support through the event.
