BOOKOFF and Adachi Ward entered into an agreement and launched an initiative to donate to the Adachi Children’s Future Support Fund the amounts collected through “Kimochi to.”, a donation service for sending unwanted books, CDs and other items. The installation of collection boxes at participating BOOKOFF stores in Adachi Ward and at Adachi Seiwa Shinkin Bank was also announced.
On 1 September 2026, BOOKOFF CORPORATION LIMITED launched an initiative in cooperation with Adachi Ward to use its mail-in purchase donation service “Kimochi to.” to donate the purchase proceeds from unwanted books, CDs, DVDs, games and other items to the Adachi Children’s Future Support Fund. Adachi Ward is the first Tokyo municipality to participate. The donated funds are scheduled to be used through the fund for activities supporting children and young people.
Uses of the fund include experiential classes during the summer holidays, waivers of facility usage fees and free use of public baths. The fund supports the creation of community spaces and the expansion of learning and meal opportunities. Donations are collected through Kimochi to., and the total amount donated and the number of partner organisations are publicly disclosed.
Adachi Ward is using the fund to promote the elimination of disparities in access to experiences. It supports a range of classes, including summer craft and work-experience programmes, waivers of usage fees for swimming pools and gymnasiums, and free use of public baths. The fund is also used to support local activities, including grants to NPOs.
In addition, under its comprehensive partnership agreement with the ward, Adachi Seiwa Shinkin Bank is supporting the donation activities of the ward and BOOKOFF. It will install “Osekkai Boxes,” collection boxes for unused and unwanted items, at 20 branches and 3 consultation plaza locations, and donate the purchase proceeds from collected items to the fund, with the aim of making use of local resources and achieving a sustainable society.
