ugo Pro has begun a demonstration project for next-generation security at the domestic and international passenger terminals of Fukuoka Airport. Four operations will be tested, including patrol security and anomaly detection linked to AI video analytics, as well as monitoring crowd conditions.
ugo株式会社 announced on 25 August 2026 that it would conduct a demonstration project for a next-generation security system using the AI robot ugo Pro at Fukuoka Airport. The project will cover the passenger terminal buildings for both domestic and international flights, focusing on anomaly detection and patrol security.
The international passenger terminal building at Fukuoka Airport was expanded to approximately 132,000 sq. m. of total floor area at the March 2025 grand opening. With the expansion of the commercial area and growing inbound demand, covering blind spots and ensuring safety during crowded periods had become challenges. Against this backdrop, a demonstration combining AI video analytics with security robots began in the international terminal in June 2026. A similar demonstration of patrol security and anomaly detection will also be conducted in the domestic terminal.
ugo Pro will perform four operations: early detection of suspicious behavior and rushing to the scene, automatic patrols of the extensive terminal, monitoring crowd conditions and assisting with directing people, and automatic patrol security during nighttime hours. These operations will respectively involve transmitting video to support initial response, conducting scheduled and unscheduled patrols to reduce blind spots, providing guidance and alerts based on crowd detection, and patrolling after the terminal closes.
Going forward, the company plans to consider expanding the target areas and enhancing functionality based on the results of the demonstration projects at both terminals.
