鈴木 健吾 (鈴木健吾), the former Japanese men's marathon record holder, expressed a strong desire to reclaim the title of Japan's record holder. In an interview after a new product launch event in Tokyo on the 14th, he said he aims to set a new personal best and identified competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as his goal.
鈴木 健吾 (鈴木健吾) set the Japanese record of 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 56 seconds in 2021, but 大迫 傑 (大迫傑) lowered it to 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 55 seconds in 2025. While expressing his frustration, 鈴木 健吾 (鈴木健吾) said he still has a burning desire to compete.
On the 14th, he appeared at a new product launch event for DM Mitsui Sugar in Tokyo and spoke to reporters. While pursuing the example of 大迫 傑 (大迫傑), a senior athlete he respects, he expressed his determination to overcome the barriers standing between him and the Olympics.
In January and February this year, he trained jointly with 大迫 傑 (大迫傑), saying that spending time with him had allowed him to learn from his professionalism.
He plans to enter a race targeting a fast time next February or March and said he wants to break out of his current situation, in which he has not improved his personal best for approximately 5 years.
His primary goal is to compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and he once again views reclaiming the title of Japan's record holder as a realistic goal.
