Chubu Electric Power President Yasui Minoru (安井稔) stated that the company would pursue corporate culture reforms in response to irregularities in seismic data at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station. He said efforts to restore trust must be demonstrated through actions and results.
Chubu Electric Power President Yasui Minoru (安井稔) attended his inauguration press conference in Nagoya and indicated his intention to pursue corporate culture reforms. He emphasised his view that, if the reforms do not progress, the company's business operations themselves could face a crisis.
Regarding the reapplication for the review required to restart Units 3 and 4 at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, he stated that restoring trust would be the top priority. Former President Hayashi Kingo (林欣吾) had said, “We will never give up,” but President Yasui (安井) was reported to have used more reserved wording.
The remarks conveyed the company's policy for internal reforms in response to the issue surrounding the seismic data irregularities, as well as its future response policy, including whether to reapply.
