The governor was asked to support exhibitors affected by the cancellation of the Okinawa Industrial Festival, which was cancelled in October due to the impact of a typhoon.
In 2026, all 3 days of the Okinawa Industrial Festival were cancelled due to the impact of a typhoon, and participation fees paid by exhibitors were not refunded under the applicable rules. In response, the Okinawa Liberal Democratic Party and Independents' Association submitted a request to the prefecture on 5 November calling for the creation of support measures to reduce exhibitors' expenses, including procurement costs and labour costs, and for the holding of an alternative sales event.
The request also called for the creation of a sustainable framework, including an increase in the prefecture's contribution from fiscal 2027 onward and the introduction of insurance against natural-disaster risks. The governor said that support would be considered for publicising a dedicated website and that a sales event inside the prefectural government office would be considered, while mechanisms for stable future開催 would be discussed with the executive committee and others.
The event is one of the largest industrial events in the prefecture, supporting local companies in launching new products and expanding sales channels. Measures based on the premise that it will continue to be held from next year onward are being discussed.
Specific requests include measures to reduce exhibitors' expenses, the provision of alternative sales opportunities and the introduction of insurance as a future framework for financial support. As an immediate response, the governor indicated that publicity and the securing of sales opportunities would be pursued, while also expressing an intention to develop a long-term institutional framework.
