China's leading public-fund manager 東方基金 formally appointed its parent company, 東北証券's president 何俊岩 (He Junyan), as chairman. 劉鴻鵬 (Liu Hongpeng), who served as acting chairman during the transition period, moved to the positions of vice chairman and chief financial officer, completing the change in leadership.
東方基金 announced in a notice that 何俊岩 (He Junyan), president of its parent company 東北証券, had formally assumed office as chairman. The general manager had previously served as acting chairman, but this personnel change completed the transition to a permanent chairman.
何俊岩 (He Junyan) has worked at 東北証券 for many years, serving in positions including general manager of the Planning and Finance Department and general manager of the Customer Asset Management Division, as well as chief financial officer and executive vice president. He currently serves as a Party committee member, vice chairman and president of 東北証券, and is also chairman of 東証融達投資有限公司. The personnel change is seen as intended to strengthen strategic cooperation between the public-fund and securities businesses.
Established in 2004, 東方基金 is majority-owned by 東北証券, which holds a 57.6% stake. Other major shareholders include 河北国控資本管理有限公司 and 渤海国際信託. The latest leadership change followed a period in which 劉鴻鵬 (Liu Hongpeng) served as acting chairman after 崔偉 (Cui Wei) stepped down as chairman.
Across the industry, 97 fund companies had changed their top executives by August this year, involving 240 people, and the pace of leadership changes remains high. Personnel changes have occurred across a broad range of institutions, from major firms to smaller companies, with factors including mandatory retirement, changes in shareholder structures and fee reforms cited as the background.
