Kitami Institute of Technology, Kitami City and Japan Aviation Electronics Industry, Limited are conducting joint research to assess deterioration using bridge deflection, while also carrying out tests to measure the effects of soil disintegration.
Kitami Institute of Technology, Kitami City and Japan Aviation Electronics Industry, Limited are jointly conducting research focused on bridge deflection to improve the efficiency of bridge inspection work. The greater the deflection, the greater the possibility that the bridge has deteriorated, and studies are under way on methods that could make on-site inspections more efficient.
The research seeks to improve both the accuracy and speed of inspection work by measuring and analysing bridge displacement, or deflection, thereby providing additional information for assessing deterioration. Tests to measure the effects of soil disintegration are also being combined with the research, as studies proceed on comprehensive indicators for assessing bridge structural soundness.
The participating organisations are Kitami Institute of Technology, Kitami City and Japan Aviation Electronics Industry, Limited. They plan to continue examining evaluation methods, the scope of application and practical operating procedures.
