At a seminar featuring speakers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and JICDAQ, the speakers explained AI-driven ad optimisation and emerging ad fraud threats and introduced measures for advertisers to protect brand value.
At the online seminar “AI-driven ad optimisation and emerging threats: How advertisers can protect brand value,” held on 21 October 2026, the growing complexity of ad fraud accompanying the spread of AI and the reality of advertising budgets being siphoned off without advertisers noticing were reported.
As it marked 1 year since the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications published guidance for advertisers and others, the seminar stressed the importance of accurately understanding the reality of the threats and implementing countermeasures. Initiatives to maintain the integrity of ad delivery and the latest data were also explained.
Speakers included a representative of the Information Distribution Administration Division of the Information and Communications Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the secretary-general of the Japan Digital Advertising Quality Certification Organization (JICDAQ), the head of alliances at Spider Labs, and an advertising planner/project manager at transcosmos. Practical case studies of countermeasures were shared.
The seminar has concluded. Through case studies of measures implemented in the field by transcosmos and Spider Labs, together with explanations of the data, it introduced approaches to advertising operations going forward.
