Chubu Electric Power made public the steps being taken toward the inauguration of its new president, Yasui Minoru (安井 稔), and said it plans to reiterate its policy on his inauguration on the 8th. In response to the misconduct involving the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant, it also disclosed plans to establish new departments to promote organizational culture reform and nuclear governance.
On the 30th, Chubu Electric Power formally confirmed at its regular press conference that Director Yasui Minoru (安井 稔) will become president on 1 October. Yasui Minoru (安井 稔) said he plans to give his inauguration address again on the 8th and made remarks looking ahead to the launch of a new management structure, including a transformation of the organizational culture and nuclear power division.
As part of the new organization, the Organization Culture Reform Promotion Department will be established directly under newly appointed President Yasui Minoru (安井 稔), while the Nuclear Governance Promotion Department will be established within the nuclear power division in response to issues including data irregularities. The head of the department will be concurrently held by Deputy Division Head Miyamoto Fumitake (宮本 文武), while Department Head Ota Takushi (太田 卓志) is scheduled to concurrently head the Organization Culture Reform Promotion Department.
While there is speculation that options including appointing an outside candidate as chairman are being considered, it was reported that no answer would be given at this time regarding the appointment of a chairman. New President Yasui Minoru (安井 稔) is expected to hold another press conference on the 8th and outline measures to prevent a recurrence.
As inappropriate incidents continue to occur, including data irregularities at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant, irregularities in decommissioning procedures and overbilling of electricity charges, Chubu Electric Power is seeking to prevent a recurrence through organizational reform and stronger governance, although experts have also raised concerns. The share price has fallen by approximately 10% around the publication of the previous investigation report.
