Today, 1 November, Vietnamese banks indicated selling levels of 26,000 dong or below for the US dollar, and the US dollar's exchange rate against the Vietnamese dong fell to a new low in more than a year.
On the morning of the 11th, commercial banks' US dollar exchange rates fell sharply, dropping below 26,000 dong per dollar, and selling at 26,000 dong or below spread across the domestic market. As a result, the US dollar has entered a prolonged downtrend.
Specifically, Vietcombank bought US dollars at 25,610 dong and sold them at 25,990 dong. ACB quoted 25,620 dong on the buy side and 25,980 dong on the sell side, with selling at 26,000 dong or below becoming widespread.
The euro was quoted at 28,425 dong to buy and 29,625 dong to sell, the yen at 159.51 dong to buy and 168.80-169.24 dong to sell, and the British pound at 34,093 dong to buy and 35,185 dong to sell, with the levels lowered/raised.
In global markets, the US Dollar Index remained in an upward phase but showed signs of stabilising. The Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged and the ECB's policy decision were the market's focal points. Going forward, oil price trends and interest-rate expectations may continue to affect exchange rates.
